After a couple of words, they switch to Russian: the head of the Duma reproached Ukrainian accelerations
It has now been established in Latvia that the asylum has several thousand recoveries from Ukraine. Many of them study the Latvian language, but, according to the Chairman of the Valka Regional Council Vents Armands Krauklis, there is one thing but… Tautaruna writes about this
“Ukrainians said a lot of good words yesterday, but one point is upsetting – the use of the Latvian language. They learned something (someone more, some less) and repeated it in everyday life, but after a few words, the interlocutor switches to Russian. This is incomprehensible hospitality!” Krauklis writes on his Twitter page.
This tweet naturally sparked a discussion online:
A Latvian living in Norway shared her experience:
-I live in Norway and often say thank you for the fact that all these years they tirelessly speak Norwegian to me. Although at first it would have been easier to switch to English, all as one of the factors I mumble – wrong, uncomfortable, but painful. Latvians — help us learn our beautiful language!
– I agree. Absolutely unacceptable. And we ourselves must be stricter in this matter.
– The fact that, for example, a saleswoman in a store has a badge with the image of the Ukrainian flag pinned does not allow us to state in any way how long she has been in Latvia and whether she is ready to speak Latvian. I was looking for laces in a shoe store. The seller no longer understood the “laces” and offered to switch to Russian.
Please don’t change the facts! They asked me 5-6 times – if from Ukraine, you can speak Russian, instead of changing it yourself (someone may already speak Russian by default), and yet. Of course, this does not mean that some relationships of honesty do not themselves speak Russian about love.
