Genoa, the facade of the National Theater changes: here is the project
One million and 500,000 euros from the 2023 Regional Strategic Fund will finance the new external cladding of the National Theater of Genoa. This was announced today by the president and councilor for culture of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti and the director of the National Theater of Genoa Davide Livermore.
“The National Theater of Genoa is among the most important and prestigious theater institutions in the city and in Liguria – said Toti -. For this reason, in agreement with the director Livermore, we did not want to miss the opportunity to contribute to the restyling of the facade of the Theater, which does not simply represent a restoration intervention, but an innovation and transformation of the same into an artistic and interactive on the city to communicate to the public, with a strong visual impact, the emotions, the art, the fun, the emotion that live on the stage of this splendid theatre”.
“Once again the local institutions demonstrate the great attention they have for culture in the city – he added the mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci – In particular, with the National Theater of Genoa, years ago we started a revolutionary and virtuous path aimed at giving the right value to a great artistic expression of our city. With this intervention we will give even more prestige to one of the most lived-in theaters by the Genoese”.
“The theater becomes a reflector, a reflector, an essence of visual aggregation; an object that communicates an urban invasion distinguishable from the context,” he said the director of the National Theater of Genoa Davide Livermore.
The warping intervention (cladding) of the facade, designed by the Giò Forma studio, “transforms the theater into an autonomous architecture – reads a note – always respectful of the context but with its own original language: an object that communicates theatre, aggregation and celebration. The main purpose is to give dignity and autonomy to a place that produces wonderful contents”.
