a river shuttle on the Canal du Midi soon available
It’s a rather special taxi that will roam the Pink City from January. Indeed, the boat-restaurant L’Occitaniamanaged by Toulouse Croisières, will make several round trips on the Canal du Midi each day.
We are the only restaurant boat that works all year round and has permanent jobs. With the arrival of the 3e metro line there will be work that will disrupt car traffic, so we adapt,” says Richard Munos, manager of the barge, interviewed by L’Opinion Indépendante.
These shuttles on the canal du midi circulated several times a day between 2.30 p.m. and 6 p.m., for a journey of approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour round trip between the Bayard lock and the Demoiselles bridge, with a possible stopover at Port Saint-Sauveur. A journey that will be available from Wednesday to Saturday for a price of 10 euros, only by reservation.

A test before the Rugby World Cup
With this new niche, Richard Munos hopes to reach a target different from the usual clientele of Occitania. In addition, the lunch break will also be put to good use since the establishment now offers meridian meal cruises lasting from 1h30 to 2 hours, in order to allow Toulouse residents to reconcile their working day with a lunch on the barge. .
Note that the idea of taxi on the canal du midi is not completely innocent. “During the Rugby World Cup in September, there will definitely be a system of shuttles on the canal in Toulouse“, specifies Richard Munos. If the project is a success, Toulouse Croisières could therefore be the first to use this mode of travel which will certainly be acclaimed by many foreign supporters.
