Good shopping trips, nice things and gifts for our loved ones. But without fuel the pleasant holiday activity risks turning into a chore and instead of enjoying the ride we want to bite those next to us. To gain strength, we stop at strategic points, at delicious shops located near the most popular shopping plazas, so that we don’t walk for too long. We take something in our hand or take a seat at the tables and with full batteries we enjoy Christmas Athens.

Bon Bon Fait Maison L’atelier: Greek-French bistro for all hours
On the ground floor of an atmospheric neoclassical building of the 19th century, among the textile shops of Kalamioto, Kriton Poulis introduces himself this time and through salty suggestions. The chef – known for his ten-year career as Pierre Herme’s right-hand man as well as collaborations with legends such as Alain Passard and Alain Ducasse – has set up a Greek-French bistro in the renovated mansion once owned by Markos Botsaris. Depending on the time of day, we find there: breakfast (well-made egg dishes, sandwiches, homemade tarts, croissants, etc.), brunch with Breton crepes, wine cocktails, Greek and French wines, but also creative options for dinner such as glazed parsnip . in a watercress sauce with a crispy-on-the-outside-honey-on-the-inside egg or the smoked trout with dill that comes wrapped in potato leaves, with smoked mascarpone and fresh lemon juice. Desserts of the day such as Fraisier with Greek olive oil or mille feuille with pistachios complete the menu. G.P.

Loco: For fast, Mexican food
At Athenagoras Costakou’s taqueria, we go for the really delicious tacos, such as the classic al pastor with Iberian pork “round” or those with medium rare beef strip loin and chipotle sauce. The ceviches are just as good, if not better, deeply flavored and just the right amount of heat. The delicious taco-ceviche duo is complemented by other delicacies such as empanadas (small, crispy meatballs) or guacamole with crunchy pistachios. Among the store’s trump cards are the cocktails based on tequila and mezcal, curated by Nikos Sourbatis. G.P.
