WC under-20 hockey 2023: Juraj Slafkovský will not come, Montreal confirmed
MONTREAL. Slovak hockey player Juraj Slafkovský will definitely not strengthen Slovakia for the coming season WC in hockey under 20 years.
It is based on a post published by his club Montreal Canadiens on his social network Twitter. “Congratulations to all our players at the World Junior Championships,” they wrote in the post.
Below it is a photo with six hockey players who belong to the Canadiens organization and will visit the junior championship. The unit of the current NHL draft Juraj Slafkovský is not found.
Slovakian Filip Mešár, who was also selected by Montreal in the 1st round of this year’s draft, is missing among the players in the photo. Unlike Slafkovský, who regularly joins the NHL, Mešár is in the junior OHL, where he is gathering experience during his time with the Kitchener Rangers.
Slafkovský’s absence has been talked about for a long time, but this post is probably the definitive confirmation of the conjectures. Slovakia published it on Sunday nomination for the tournament The 18-year-old attacker was not in it.
However, there are still vacancies, so it is possible that coach Ivan Feneš signed him up. However, this seems unrealistic at the moment.
The 2023 U20 Hockey World Cup will be played from December 26, 2022 to January 5, 2023. The tournament will be hosted by the Canadian cities of Halifax and Moncton. The Slovaks will play their first game on Tuesday, December 27 at 17:00 CET against Finland.
