Timber high-rise for boarding school: start of construction at the beginning of January
training
In Kuchl (Tennengau), construction of the tallest boarding school building made of wood began at the beginning of January. First, the main building of the Kuchl wood technology center from the 1950s will be demolished. It makes room for the seven-storey new building.
The main building of the wood technology center is no longer up to date. It will therefore be demolished from the beginning of January, after which the new building will be built. The new boarding school building is scheduled to go into operation when school starts next autumn.
In such a short time it was only possible with a wooden construction, a solid construction would have taken much longer, say those responsible. Around 100 boarding school students have since moved and will be moving back in September.
In modular construction on a concrete base
A ground floor with a concrete base will be created, on top of which six floors will be built in modular construction. The height of the boarding school building is almost 20 meters. The piping for electricity and water is prefabricated in the wooden modules. The parts are assembled in place. The new boarding school building will offer space for around 180 students.
