The staff takes great care of the children who have to spend Christmas in the hospital. After weeks under very high tension, the retreat of bronchiolitis is a relaxation.
Happy but discreet! A few hours before Santa Claus, these elves began distributing gifts… Comfort for the children as well as for their parents. “We distribute stuffed animals for hospitalized children, small gifts before Christmas, to give them heart balm”, explains one of the little elves.
Juliette at two months. She has been hospitalized since yesterday for a high fever. Flu like her mother, she should spend Christmas night here. The nursing staff is very caring for the whole family. This morning, the eight beds in the ward were occupied. This afternoon, half of the children were able to go out.
An almost ordinary Saturday for these caregivers. “Indeed, tonight is New Year’s Eve with the magic of Christmas for the children, but we see it as a classic day”, explains Nathalie Bouesse, childcare nurse.
A relaxation after two months under very high tension. The service recorded 25 to 30 hospitalizations each day, with 180 daily passages. Never for the service. But since Monday, the bronchiolitis has been on the decline. The catch took over but in much smaller proportions.
The calm is good, we were really at the end of the race, overworked, whether it was the doctors, the nurses, the auxiliaries, the whole hospital was overheated.
