3rd metro line in Toulouse: the life-size model of a wagon will soon be exhibited
At the end of January, Toulouse residents could discover the 3rd metro line thanks to a life-size reproduction of a wagon built by Alstom which will be exhibited on rue Alsace.
The 3rd line of the Toulouse metro, now renamed line C recently, arrives this January on rue Alsace in the form of a life-size model of a wagon. While the start of the huge project was given on December 15 for commissioning still scheduled for the end of 2028, Tisséo Collectivités, the public transport organizing authority, has planned to punctuate these six years of work that will impact Toulouse residents through a series of events.
From January 27 to February 9, the inhabitants of the Pink City will be able to discover this life-size reproduction of one of the two wagons that will form a line C train. 18 meters long and weighing 14 tonnes, the model built by Alstom, the train manufacturer, will be installed rue Alsace at the level of the square du Capitole. In May 2021, Tisséo had exhibited a cabin of the cable car then under construction.
Wider oars
The first who could board the model will be the representatives of associations of disabled people who will be invited by Tisséo to test the equipment. The general public will then be able to see what the future metro will look like. The Alstom trains which won the contract will be wider than those of the Siemens VAL which equip lines A and B. We will go from 2 meters to 2.70 meters.
In terms of visual identity, Tisséo plans to draw inspiration from the blue and brick colors of its buses for this new line.
The model, which will be transported by a 27-meter-long truck and installed with a 96-tonne crane, should then reach the Colomiers depot.
