Toulouse. New premises for the Solidarity Shop
The Solidarity Shop of the ARPADE Fondation Abbé Pierre association opened the doors of its new premises on rue Brouardel on 30 November. This anonymous day center located in the Compans-Caffarelli district in Toulouse, is intended for people in great difficulty and provides them with a range of services: luggage storage, laundry, distribution of duvets in winter, breakfast, coffee, showers, access to toilets, etc. The Boutique Solidarité is also a place of social reintegration through culture and leisure (theatre, sport). In total and on average over the year, 90 visits per day, of which 90% are men. “We are happy to have been able to open before the extreme cold. It is also thanks to the beneficiaries who themselves participated in the development and embellishment of this premises”, confides Laurence Pivant to one of the educators . A team of 4 educators carry out bike tours every day. Paulo is disabled and has been living on the street for 2 years. “I knew La boutique Solidarité when it was near the train station, I followed it to Saint-Cyprien and now here. I come here to shower, get warm, but above all for human warmth. Fortunately, this kind of place exists”, he testifies.
