A Salzburger in Miami with an artful pose
Lukas Gschwandtner, who was born in Salzburg, recently caused a stir with an installation at Design Miami International. The client was the Roman luxury brand Fendi.
That doesn’t happen every day: a letter from the Roman fashion house Fendi recently arrived. It was announced that a young man from Austria had been invited as a guest artist to create an installation at the Design Miami fair. So to where parallel and a few meters further the Florida offshoot of Art Basel takes place in a climatically favorable time window. Anyone who is well-known in the art world, can spare a few dollars and would like to stroll en passant over one or the other red carpet will find themselves in the booming metropolis in this time frame.
Lukas Gschwandtner says he’s glad two weeks later, back in Vienna and already jumping in his former hometown of Salzburg for the holidays, to have had this opportunity. Finally, on the sidelines of Art Basel in Miami, you get a really good insight into how the big art business works behind the scenes. At the same time, he is no less happy to be living and working in Vienna again after his studies in London.
