Near Toulouse, the return of customers to the Fenouillet commercial area
You are quite downtown we commercial areas ? Three days before Christmas, it’s a bit of a race for latecomers. And often this question: where to go to buy gifts? In the Fenouillet shopping mall, north of Toulouse, people are back, often to the detriment of the Toulouse city center.
This is particularly the case for Sonia, she lives in Grisolles and does everything to avoid the city center of Toulouse: “I was in Matabiau yesterday for a medical appointment and I stopped going downtown afterwards. I know I won’t find anything there.”
Like Sonia, Franck does all his shopping in shopping centers and in particular at Fenouillet. Yet he lives in Saint Jean, and is the same distance from downtown Toulouse as the Fenouillet shopping center. But there is a significant detail, which pushes him to favor shopping malls: “It’s more and more difficult to go to the city center, between the Low Emission Zone, parking, it’s complicated.”
In the car park, all the customers questioned mentioned the parking problem. Too complicated to park Toulouse. While there with the 2600 parking spaces of the shopping mall, there are never any worries
Nora sees another big advantage to going to malls: “everything is in the same place, there are many shops and you don’t have to go anywhere.”
This increase in footfall in the commercial area of Fenouillet began a few months ago according to the mayor of the city, Thierry Duhamel: “Since the end of the health crisisor in any case the lowering of the risk, people resumed their habits and returned to the commercial areas*.”*
According to the National Council of Shopping Centers, the footfall index in shopping areas increased by more than 2% when comparing November 2021 to that of 2022.
