The the sling continues against the Ramsay Santé group, which manages union clinicbased in Saint-Jean (Haute-Garonne), near Toulouse.
Petition, demonstration
The MP (LFI) for the second constituency of Haute-Garonne, Anne Stambach and the Union Mayor, Marc Pereagain calling for the return of free parking.
At the beginning of 2021, Ramsay Santé had indeed decided to make the car parks of the clinics of L’Union and Croix du Sud (in Quint-Fonsegrives) chargeable. The end of free admission had caused the anger of users and elected officials !
A petition received by Marc Péré had recovered more than 17,000 signatures and a demonstration had even taken place in front of the clinic in an attempt to bring down the private group…
A car park with 1250 spaces
At the height of the controversy, the group replied that these two clinics “have been the subject of renovation work on their parking areas in order to reorganize the space in a more coherent way”.
“The Clinique de l’Union car park, which has 1,250 spaces has been redesigned to improve access to public transport from the Tisséo network as close as possible to the establishment. At the Clinique La Croix du Sud, nearly 200 new parking spaces have been created, thus increasing the reception capacity to 1,000 places”, indicated Ramsay Santé to Toulouse newswhile recalling that “the first half hour of parking remains free”.
“Angry users and elected officials”
Several months later, and despite the criticism, Ramsay Santé has not changed the pricing conditions for its car parks. After a meeting held on Friday December 18, 2022 with two managers of the L’Union clinic, Marc Pere and Anne Stambach persistent and sign:
“We have reaffirmed our determination to continue the battle for a return to free of the parking lot of the Clinique de L’Union”, assures the two elected officials.
“We were part of the managers of the establishment complaints from users about the price of parking. We have received, in our hotlines, people who are unemployed, at least old age or even on the minimum wage, who are struggling to find food and housing, and who have to pay tens of euros a month to take care of loved ones. , hospitalized at the Clinique de L’Union”, are still alarmed the mayor and the deputy.
“In a context of declining purchasing power, we understand the anger of visitors and patients, especially those who have to go to the clinic regularly. Faced with the drop in purchasing power of our fellow citizens, we ask that the Ramsay group puts an end to the puncture of users who are struggling to make ends meet”.
“Record profits…”
For Anne Stambach and Marc Péré, “the L’Union clinic can indeed decide, because it is part of the Ramsay group, which was carried out in June 2022 profit records“.
The two elected officials refer to the publication of the provisional annual results at the end of June 2022 unveiled by the private group last August. Ramsay Santé indicated that the net result of the group amounted to €118.4 million while annual revenue was €4,301.0 million, “up 6.9%”. A “solid performance” for the group “despite a context which remains degraded by high inflation, a shortage of healthcare personnel and the continuation of the pandemic, for which Ramsay Health has continued to play a leading role in Europe”, he pointed out.
“The meeting took place in an atmosphere of listening and mutual respect. The management of the clinic and the group told us to reflect on the proposals made in the session”, argue the two elected officials who declare that they are available “for any intervention contributing to the maintenance of this essential service for the surrounding populations”.
