Councilors approved the city’s 2023 budget.
Krakow councilors approved half of the city’s budget for next year, presented by the president, Jacek Majchrowski. According to the document issuing Krakow, they will reach PLN 8 billion 22 million, and the total revenue is to amount to PLN 6 billion 863 million. The deficit will reach PLN 1 billion 159 million.
27 councilors voted for the draft budget for next year, 13 were against, and three more voted against. During the discussion on the document, the councilors emphasized that it was the highest budget for many years, pointed out that a record-high budget had been achieved and estimated that during the year there might not be enough money for another important issue, such as public transport or education.
Dominik Jaśkowiec from the activities of the councilors of Platforma-Koalicja Obywatelska added that this is a budget that can influence the city, not providing funding for public transport, education, etc. “This budget is difficult, but above all bad for the residents” – he pointed out.
Mariusz Kękuś, vice-chairman of the PiS councilors’ clubs, drew attention to the huge debts – almost PLN 1,100 million, which resulted in debt, which at the end of next year will amount to over PLN 5,530 million and the associated gigantic debt servicing costs – PLN 390 million. “In previous years, even before the crisis, despite the good economic situation, the city was getting into debt faster than its income was growing, what’s more, we criticized it.
Councilor Krzysztof Krzysztonek warned that many shortages coming from the year spent during the year. “By agreeing to such a budget, you can see what the city’s financial situation is” – he assesses.
Jacek Bednarz, journalists from the councilors of Przyjazny Kraków, pointed out that the city’s budget was created with real external factors, as well as high inflation and high prices, to be more precise.
“Unfortunately, these tax revenues are also supplemented by government reforms of the tax system – they reduce one income from personal income tax – in a given year by about PLN 1 billion, and the loss of these revenues is not compensated by government subsidies under the +Polish Order+. All this has a very negative impact. for city finances.
The adopted budget for 2023 assumes, together with an additional self-amendment, that the revenue of the general city will amount to PLN 6 billion 863 million. This means an increase of over 6.5%. in the international with a plan for 2022.
The city’s total expenditure in 2023 reached the level of PLN 8 billion 22 million – it is an amount more than 9.9 percent higher than in 2023. higher than the capacity for 2022. PLN 6 billion 310 million will cost the implementation of current tasks, and PLN 1 billion 711 million will be spent on capital expenditure, of which PLN 1 billion 563 million has been reserved for the investment program itself.
According to the city authorities, the revenues in the budget resolution, expenses and revenues have a huge impact on real economic phenomena: high inflation and energy and fuel prices, as well as government reforms of the tax system.
During the work on the budget, the Mayor of Krakow, Jacek Majchrowski, pointed out that due to the difficult situation in connection with the investment, the tasks already started should be continued; there won’t be a new one.
