Around a immersive scenography which immerse visitors in the atmosphere of the workshops of the interwar period, the exhibition traces the career of this visionary who built the foundations of Toulouse, one of the world capitals of aeronautics on the historic site of L ‘Flight of the Pioneers.
The exhibition “Pierre Georges Latécoère, the future has wings” trace the journey of this pioneer who, when no one wanted to believe him, managed to achieve the impossible: create air lines to connect people to each other across several continents beyond deserts, oceans and mountains .
Planes to discover
Of Toulouse to Barcelona on December 25, 1918, then Toulouse to Rabat in Morocco the following year, continuing with Dakar in Senegal (1925) and Buenos Aires to Brazil (1929)Pierre-Georges Latécoère succeeded in founding a true international aeronautical organization in a few years.
Through many historical objects and original mediation devices, the visitor goes to meet this man who upset the airline industry and the future of Toulouse. Through loans from the Latécoère Foundation and the Biscarrosse Seaplane Museum, the exhibition invites visitors to go discovering the most emblematic devices such as the Laté 28, the Laté 300 or the Laté 521 seaplane.
Imagining the aircraft of the future
Throughout the exhibition, visitors are invited to participate in a challenge around the aviation of tomorrow. The exhibition invites the public to unfold with the new environmental challenges of aviation through an interactive journey and the presentation of current experiences of pioneering Toulouse entrepreneurs in their field who are working to decarbonize aviation.
Thus, while drawing inspiration from the pioneering values of Pierre Georges Latécoère, visitors, children and adults alike, will in turn have to imagine a durable airplane or drone. To do this, they will have to form a team, require the energy they wish to use (hydrogen, electricity, etc.), discover their impact on the design of the aircraft and produce routes to consume less or reduce their carbon footprint. …
“With” Pierre Georges Latécoère
The visit to the exhibition ends “with” Pierre Georges Latécoère which, thanks to an original device, speaks directly to visitors to decipher with them the choices they will have made during their challenge. The right time to recall the values of a pioneer: audacity, courage, perseverance, rigour…
