In Venice, the mayor’s ordinance to protect decorum for Christmas night
VENICE (ITALPRESS) – The mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnaro signed an ordinance this morning to protect urban decorum, urban safety and the protection of the territory to prevent, on Christmas night, situations of neglect or degradation of the territory, cultural heritage and damage to urban livability, with particular reference to the need to protect the tranquility and rest of the residents. The provision – reads the text – starts from what happened in recent years when, in the night between 24 and 25 December, there were numerous episodes of disturbance and “pathological manifestations of conviviality and social aggregation which caused problems to urban safety and compromise of the common cultural heritage consisting in the sacredness of Christmas night, also through events organized by public establishments, known as “alcoholic masses”.
The ordinance therefore establishes that between 10 pm on 24 December and 6 am on 25 December 2022 public establishments cannot organize events and musical entertainment with “DJ-sets” and use sound and music broadcasting systems of any kind, even inside the venue. The provision affects premises throughout the municipal area, within a radius of 200 meters from churches and other buildings dedicated to worship, as well as public establishments located, up to a radius of 200 meters: in the UNESCO area (ancient and Islands). In Mestre: piazza Ferretto, piazzale Coin, piazzale Candiani, piazza XXVII Ottobre, via Palazzo, piazzale Olivotti and piazzale Carpenedo. In Marghera: piazza Sant’Antonio, piazza Municipio, piazza Mercato, piazzale Concordia and piazzale Martiri Giuliani and Dalmati della Foibe in Marghera. In Chirignago: Piazza San Giorgio. In Favaro Veneto: Pastrello square. In the same time slot, public establishments will not be able to set up equipment for the “tapping” and preparation of drinks on the licensed stalls. The administration of food and drink in an itinerant/itinerant form will also be prohibited. Furthermore, the food and artisan commercial activities (of food products) located in the areas identified by the provision or located outside any shopping centers, note that their activities end at 10 pm on 24 December 2022 and not to resume them until 6 am on 25 December. Finally, the provision prohibits the lighting of exploding pyrotechnic devices of any kind within a radius of 200 meters from churches and places of worship, even if located outside inhabited centres.
