“If necessary, we will block Blagnac airport!” Threatens the community of travelers evacuated from the north of Toulouse
Evacuated from Bruguières, soon to be expelled from Ile de Ramier, a community of travelers threatens to block Toulouse-Blagnac airport.
A small Japanese black dog as soon as a visitor ventures into the middle of the camp. Old ladies busy cleaning their caravans stop their work to observe the intruder. A group of men forms, invites them to report “the public authorities who oblige them like dogs”.
On the night of Friday to Saturday, they hastily settled in the parking lot of the former exhibition center on the Ile du Ramier in Toulouse. In the morning at dawn, they had been evacuated from the parking lot of the Bascala theater in Bruguières by the gendarmerie. In the evening, in retaliation, this group of itinerant French citizens (CFI) had blocked the access roads near the avenue des Etats-Unis causing major traffic jams with their many caravans at rush hour.
What Pierre Yung, who acts as patriarch of this community, strongly denies: “It was the police who blocked everything, not us! In a few months we got kicked out of Fenouillet, Lespinasse, Sesquières and finally Bruguières by about sixty gendarmes with helicopters and everything else. The problem in and around Toulouse is that all the reception areas are occupied by settled travellers… We were offered the Blagnac area but it was only for seven short days. We couldn’t accept that. I have three grandchildren if we move all the time how do I make sure they follow school well! There are also seriously ill people among us who need care every day. Comment on fact? We are tired of being tossed from parking lot to parking lot. We are also denied access to the high traffic area located at La Mounède when there is no one on it! We’re not fed up! »
“If the mayor of Toulouse wants to fire us…”
He promises action on a completely different scale if we try again to expel them without a decent solution: “If the mayor of Toulouse wants to kick us out of here, we will consult with all the communities of travelers in the corner and we will block Blagnac airport because if we do that, the whole world will know how we are treated. »
Information taken from Toulouse Métropole, if it is true that all the reception areas of the agglo are now occupied, this community has never made a request to obtain any location (parking is paid editor’s note) . The City announces that it has launched an eviction procedure to evacuate the parking lot of the former exhibition center.
As for the Mounède high-traffic area in Toulouse, it is currently under construction. In a few days, it should welcome a significant number of caravans from a community that requested it almost six months ago to spend the holidays there. Access is charged for, like water and electricity.
