The military and civilians who are part of the Logistics Command are about 6000, between men and women, every day in the sectors of naval maintenance, logistics engineering of materials and centrally controlled stocks, infrastructures and port works as well as a guarantee of security maritime through the management of the lighthouse and maritime signaling service. The Maritime Commands and the Commands and Entities hierarchically dependent on them also report to the Logistic Command, including the strategic work establishments of La Spezia, Taranto and Augusta as well as the ammunition and fuel depots and stock material warehouses.

The Admiral Salvatore Calfcomes from the city of Taranto where, for five years, he was at the helm of the Southern Maritime Command, in a meeting after the ceremony he underlined how he intends to increasingly open the bases of the Navy to the City and to young people in particular, who represent our future, he expressed himself thus: «I thank the Chief of Staff of the Navy for having granted me the honor of wearing the third star and for having assigned me this important position of Logistics Commander of the Navy. I will undertake to sink the plow in the furrow already traced by Admiral Abbamonte and I will be available to all the city institutions to support even those activities that are external to the specific tasks of the Logistics Command. The Admiral Abbamontein his farewell, he drew up a significant balance of his 18 months of Command and spoke words of praise for the personnel involved in the logistics function, which is of fundamental importance to ensure the functioning of the Naval Units in all their components.
