from Gennaro Scala
A prompt, providential intervention by the carabinieri who, together with the 118 personnel, intervened this morning in via Piave and saved a man, GS, 63 years old from Vomerowho had suffered a heart attack.
The rescue
It was around 9, when a patrol was driving along via Piave, the road connecting the Vomero and Soccavo districts. Suddenly their attention was drawn to a man who, after putting a hand to his chest, he slumped to his knees. It seemed clear that it was a heart attack. The military wasted no time and immediately contacted 118. The ambulance arrived on site with sirens blaring. The doctors found the 63-year-old lying on a bench and assisted by the carabinieri. In some cases, a matter of minutes, there’s no time to lose. The police car turns on the siren and flashing lights making its way through the traffic and paving the way for the ambulance, until it reaches the nearby Fatebenefratelli hospital. From there, after being stabilized, the man was transferred to the Mediterranean clinic, where he underwent emergency surgery for myocardial infarction. From the clinic they let it be known that the surgery was successful. A story that recalls the one relating to another rescue, that of a newborn, in the Barra area. Even in that case, the intervention of the carabinieri was providential.
