Charlene of Monaco Foundation celebrates 10 years of its
On December 14, 2022, Prince Albert II and his wife accompanied the new premises of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of its creation. An event in which Princess Stephanie also participated as well as Gareth Wittstock, Charlene’s brother and Secretary General of the Foundation.
Under the tender gaze of Princess Stéphanie, the Monegasque sovereign Albert II proudly embraces his wife. For ten years, Princess Charlene of Monaco has invested body and soul in the foundation that bears her name and which she created after her marriage.
The former South African swimmer wanted to set up educational projects such as learning to swim, preventing drowning or educating the most disadvantaged through sport. Nearly 510 projects were thus able to see the light of day in 43 countries throughout the world, thus affecting more than one million people. In the Principality, 4,800 children produced Learn to Swim and Aquatic Safety programs.
Faced with this assessment, Princess Charlene, warmed up in a gray cashmere coat Loro Piana, struggles to contain her emotion: “Ten years… How time flies. These figures, the number of people we have touched and taught, these lives saved, this could not have happened without you, without your support for our vision and our dream”, she said in her speech before addressing her husband tenderly. “Thank you Albert for everything, your support, for believing in us and for your trust.”
In the midst of patrons and present investors, Prince Albert II is in the front row just like his sister, Princess Stéphanie, who came to congratulate Charlène. The sovereign’s wife can also count on the support of her brother, Gareth Wittstock, to whom she is appointed as secretary general.

Very grateful for his work, she also gave him a bouquet of white roses before inaugurating the new premises of the Foundation, now located on the Quai Antoine 1er in Monaco. In a common gesture, more complicit than ever, the princely couple cut the ribbon before heading to a large birthday cake in Monegasque colors.
Smiling, Princess Charlene seems to have become fulfilled. “I would first like to say that I feel so much better today than I have felt in recent years,” she confided to Monaco-Morning for the tenth anniversary of the Foundation. “My family and those I love are my rock. I approach the future, step by step, one day at a time.”
The princess is teeming with projects for the year 2023, with the creation of an animal refuge in the Alpes-Maritimes and the strengthening of awareness programs on drowning in Africa and Asia in particular. A few days ago, the Christmas Ball at the Hôtel L’Hermitage raised funds for the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation through an auction authorized by Sotheby’s. A great way to look to the future.
