Bronchiolitis, Covid-19: pediatric emergencies at the Toulouse University Hospital trigger the white plan
With the epidemic of respiratory pathologies, the activity of pediatric emergencies at the CHU Toulouse Purpan is increasing. The hospital triggers its level 1 white plan and asks the hospital staff to provide support in the face of the situation.
The children’s hospital at the CHU Toulouse Purpan has been experiencing significant activity for several weeks. But faced with a tension that persists, despite the anticipation of the management, the Toulouse University Hospital triggered level 1 of its white plan at the children’s hospital this Friday, December 16, the day before the Christmas holidays.
To deal with the situation, the pediatric service had taken certain measures, in particular the opening of 36 additional beds from mid-October. Although they made it possible to double the capacity for general paediatrics, all the beds are now full.

The decision to activate the white plan aims to alert all hospital actors so that they provide support in the face of this situation. “They must provide care in unscheduled consultation”, assures Isabelle Oliver-Petit, pediatrician at the health establishment.
Pediatric emergencies by also calling on the responsibility of parents and reminding them that when children are sick: “you must consult the usual doctor, the child’s pediatrician or the nearest hospitals without delay”.
