Viruses: Austria is so sick
Vienna. A triple virus tsunami is plaguing the country. According to the ÖGK, 276,926 employees were on sick leave in the previous week. This does not include children, pensioners and the unemployed. Or hit star Melissa Naschenweng, who had to cancel all concerts this week because of the flu.
- 300,000 plagued by viral infections. The fact is: at least 300,000 people are currently suffering from viral infections.

Warning. Influenza cases (flu) in particular are increasing sharply in Austria, reports MedUni Vienna.
- Flu hotspot Upper Austria: Upper Austria is the undisputed front runner among flu sufferers, followed by Tyrol, Styria and Vienna. In Vienna, 25,000 people were infected with the flu and infections last week.
- Flu wave hits Graz: In Graz, 7,000 people fell ill with the flu in one week, the LKH had to outsource patients.
- RS virus in young children: Am RS virus sick many under 5 year olds. The children’s wards are full.
- “Minister of Health talks nice”. The medical association attacks Nun Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) and warns in a letter of the “collapse of the hospitals”. They name cases from every (!) federal state. In Carinthia and Salzburg there is a shortage of 50 hospital doctors each, in Upper Austria you have to wait a year for necessary surgeries, in Vorarlberg stations are being closed…
