Portugal: INEM was the target of a cyberattack
After a “calmer” period, at least according to general knowledge, cyberattacks are once again haunting our country. This time it was the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
According to the latest information, “promptly activated security protocols” and implemented “necessary response measures”.
INEM guarantees that the pre-hospital medical emergency was not compromised
There is one more cyber-attack registered in our country. The National Institute of Medical Emergency was the victim, but it has already been assured that the pre-hospital medical emergency was not compromised.
To date, there is no evidence that the data has been compromised. INEM continues to supervise its computer networks in permanent contact with the competent authorities, with which it works in close and permanent articulation
Due to the immediate reaction, the pre-hospital emergency medical service was not compromised by the cyberattack.
The National Cybersecurity Center (CNCS) and the Judiciary Police were notified "immediately". This attack on INEM's computer system follows others that affected various State bodies in recent months.
INEM is the body of the Ministry of Health responsible for coordinating the operation, in the territory of mainland Portugal, of an Integrated Medical Emergency System (SIEM), in order to guarantee victims or victims of transmitted diseases the prompt and correct provision of care. of health.
