CHILDREN OF BODOM’s last concert will be released as a live album
CHILDREN OF BODOMThe final concert held on 15 December 2019 in the Black Box of the Helsinki ice rink will be released as a live album next year.
Earlier today, the drummer Jaska Raatikainenbassist Henri “Henkka T. Seppä” Seppälä and a keyboard player Janne Wirman published the following statement on the band’s social media: “Exactly three years ago on 15.12.2019 CHILDREN OF BODOM played their last show at the Helsinki Ice Hall. In order to keep this precious last moment alive and also available to everyone who couldn’t see the show, Alex‘s [Laiho, late CHILDREN OF BODOM frontman] property, Daniel [Freyberg, CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist], Spirit, Tendon and Jaska will release the performance as a live album next year.
“We’ll make it more special, we’d love to have pictures from you added to the album. We’re looking for anything BODOM related memories from any era. We would like Hate Crew to be a part of the album, because Hate Crew was always an integral part of the so-called phenomenon. CHILDREN OF BODOM. That’s why we’re asking you to be a part of this!

Alex died on 29 December 2020 at home in Helsinki. He died of liver and pancreatic connective tissue degeneration caused by alcohol. In addition, Skinny there was a cocktail of painkillers, opioids and insomnia drugs in the system. He had suffered from long-term health problems that led to his death.
Skinny and Raatikainen founded CHILDREN OF BODOM in 1993, and the band was one of the most internationally respected metal artists in Finland until the last farewell concert. In 2020, Alex put together BODOM AFTER MIDNIGHTwho recorded three songs and filmed one music video, all of which were released posthumously.
Besides CHILDREN OF BODOM, Skinny had appeared in such plays as WARM, SYNERGY, VILLAGE CRAZIES and LOCAL BAND. Awarded a Metal Hammer Golden God and several other international awards, the guitarist was also the main star leading a group of one hundred guitarists Helsinki party in 2015 in “100 Guitars From Hel” – a massive concert piece composed by him.
Earlier this year, Raatikainen, Blacksmith and Wirman discussed publicly for the first time the circumstances that led to the band’s breakup and ultimately Skinnydeath of In an interview in Finland Helsingin sanomat newspaperthree surviving members CHILDREN OF BODOM said that the real reason the band broke up was not because they wanted to stop touring to spend more time with their families. Skinny explained it Helsingin sanomat newspaper in November 2019. Instead, the reason for the group’s breakup was Skinny‘s substance abuse, and it’s also what ultimately killed him a year after they broke up.
Exactly three years ago on December 15, 2019, Children Of Bodom played their last show at the Helsinki Ice Hall.
