Museum-estate “Ostafyevo” – “Russian Parnassus” acquired the status of a museum-reserve
On December 13, the museum-estate “Ostafyevo” was given the status of a museum-reserve by decision of the Ministry of Culture of Russia. Museum-Reserve “Ostafyevo” – “Russian Parnassus” is located on the territory with a total area of 37.94 hectares. It contains a regular and landscape park, a large pond and the main palace of the estate – a study of the example of Russian estate architecture of the 18th-19th centuries, built in the style of classicism. On both sides of the main house, the Karamzin Oaks are explained, the objects are already 150 years old. The ancient park of the estate consists of periodic and landscape parts, and a large pond. In the park, you can walk along the famous Russian Parnassus linden alley, see the Ken-Cons grove, stand in the Apollo Temple pavilion, and go to the other side of the pond through the Humpbacked wooden bridge. During the navigation season, boat trips can be carried out along the water area of the pond; a boat station operates in the homestead.
This decision means that now not only museum collections and objects are under protection, but also the entire territory, which now includes the collection by legal status. According to the legislation, the difference between reserve museums and museums is found in the fact that they have at their disposal not only museum objects and collections, but also immovable objects of cultural heritage surrounding their territory. In order to protect them, reserve museums are additionally endowed with protection by a legal status that provides for certain modes of recording and using the objects and objects included in it.
This was a New Year’s gift for all the inhabitants of the Ostafievsky park, including the famous squirrel Gvidoshi, who became the main tailed keeper in the recently held competition of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The company of a baby squirrel in the Ostafievsky park is rarely found among the multitude, including the Red Book plants and animals. So, for example, the gray heron, spotted, black and green woodpeckers, which are listed in the Red Book of Moscow, the Moscow Region and some other cities and towns. In the depths of the park, you can find both flowering plants listed in the Red Book, and medicinal plants, the properties of which have been discovered since ancient times.
Every year, the park hosts the traditional ecological action “Flower Heart” for children with limited health tastes, as well as the “Lilac Day” festival in memory of Princess V.F. Vyazemskaya, a favorite plant, which was lilac.
The museum presents the thematic program “Ecological Path”, which tells about the flora and fauna of Ostafyev. The creation of this group of employees was inspired by the programs, including the study of flora and fauna, conducted by the Sheremetev family.
Soon, the museum-reserve “Ostafyevo” – “Russian parnassus” on the basis of the “Ecological trail” research program will publish its natural guide to the park and the field specificity of Ostafyevo birds.
The status of the museum-reserve will help the museum-estate “Ostafyevo” to preserve the unique historical, cultural and natural heritage.
