Toulouse: a prominent restaurant robbed by a former employee made redundant during the health crisis

The safe of a famous restaurant in the Ville Rose had been emptied by a former employee. In police custody, he admitted having stolen 16,000 euros in cash and told the police where they had stashed part of the loot.
It is a very prominent restaurant in the center of Toulouse, renowned for the quality of its dishes. Business is going well. A large part of the payments are made in cash, so this type of establishment needs a safe to store the cash for a few days before depositing it in the bank… On November 14, the restaurant management had the unpleasant surprise of seeing that the trunk was empty. 16,000 euros had flown away. The manager of the establishment did not realize it at the time. The safe had been opened and then closed without any trace of tampering. Which suggested that the individual who had pilfered the loot knew the establishment well and probably “the instructions” for the safe.
The investigation was entrusted to the skills brigade to the people of the right bank. Suspicion quickly turned to a former employee who was fired during the health crisis. Police officers arrested this 61-year-old Toulouse man at his home. They discovered 330 euros in cash there. During his hearing, he ended up confessing to being the author of the theft and revealed to the investigators the place where he had hidden his loot. There remained 9,800 euros of the 16,000 stolen. Unknown to the police, he will be tried in the context of a CRPC (appearance on prior recognition of responsibility), commonly called the “guilty plea”.
