“If you want to save, this is not the solution”
Difficult at the moment to find an auxiliary heater in Vaucluse. In and around Avignon, small electric heaters, wood or oil stoves have been robbed in DIY stores. “I added a small heater in my bathroom for the shower outlet because it’s horrible!”testifies in particular Hayat, a resident of the Grands Cyprès district in Avignon, who can’t get above 16°C in their apartment.
“We are heated at home to 15°C”, also testify Anne and Sébastien, who have just bought oil-filled radiators in the hope of consuming less electricity than with the “toasters” in their homes. And yet, these heaters purchased as repairs are not driven by an economical solution. “It’s going to heat up, that’s for sure, but if you want to save money, that’s not the solution,” explains Thomas Martin. This energy project manager in Carpentras for the local Energy Transition Agency, guest of 6-9 de France Bleu Vaucluse this Tuesday.
To save on his heating, advises him on the contrary little tricks. “Like, for example, putting reflective plates behind the radiators, which could emit on the room side and also on the wall side. can already be a first thing at a lower cost, without considering major work”.
Renovate in the long term, by insulating your home
But it also invites do real work to improve the insulation of his apartment or his house. “The best thing is to insulate it from the inside or the outside. We also advise to insulate the roof since the heat rises, then the walls and the windows. And it is also interesting to renovate its ventilation, because that good ventilation also helps to have healthy air and reduce humidity”explains Thomas Martin.
