Former prosecutor Antoneta Sevdari has won the case against the Albanian government in Strasbourg, after being dismissed from the verification process.
After this decision, she is expected to undergo the verification process again, according to information released on Tuesday.
Nevertheless, the Appeals Chamber dismissed Prosecutor Antoneta Sevdari, a member of the High Prosecution Council, from his post in February 2019.
For its part, the Chamber accepted the public commissioner’s request to reopen the investigations for Sevdari, saying that the trial decision was made without a thorough investigation into the two criteria.
Commissioner Dariel Sina’s objection was based on the inability of the prosecutor to submit documents proving the legality of the income declared as having benefited by the applicant’s husband before 2003 in the amount of ALL 3 million.
According to the commissioner, Sevdari did not prove this amount of money with legal documents, adding that the legal income for the period 2000-2003 was about 1 million 869 thousand ALL.
In addition, she pointed out that approximately EUR 12,000 which the prosecutor’s husband received for working in Saudi Arabia in 2003 should have been declared and taxed.
