“Grinda” warns: prepare
On Sunday, “Grinda”, which oversees the streets in Vilnius, warned drivers on Facebook to prepare for difficult traffic conditions.
“WE WILL HAVE SERIOUS SNOW IN VILNIUS. Forecasters and weather enthusiasts alike are warning of more serious snowfall Sunday afternoon. Our popular app signals that:
– it will start snowing around noon; – the snow will fall from around 4 p.m. ; – in the evening, around 7 p.m. the wind will pick up, the snow will be almost 2 cm per hour – and that’s all serious blizzards for you.
What else can you do? – It is not too late to clean the more remote approaches; – Plan your Monday trips with more time – if only because you will have to dig out cars from under the snow;
– Heavy snow (and even more so blizzard) after dark with extremely limited visibility – choose a safe speed.
As for Grinda’s tactics in such weather – when it snows this long and heavily, snow plows will not remove more snow from the surface of the streets.
Our people are ready, the equipment is ready. A day of extremely intensive work awaits,” Grinda wrote.
