She is closer to Poland than Brygida. The greatest probability of snow occurrence will be in Podkarpacie, Małopolska, Świętokrzyska and Lubelszczyzna regions. In these areas, there will still be strong winds, effective blowing snow and blizzards, IMWM spokesman Grzegorz Walijewski told PAP on Saturday.
“In meteorology, there is snowfall detection. For atmospheric conditions describing the phenomenon of snow so that visibility is limited below 200 meters.
“It’s just that the flakes fall so densely that they limit our visibility to exactly 200 meters” – he added.
He noted that the IMGW uses the phenomenon of a snowstorm, but there is a lot of talk about taking into account snowfall, which is not always a snowstorm.
Blizzards are usually marked in the lowlands and on the fronts of the sun. “And if it’s a cloud that carries a lot of moisture and that moisture is then released as precipitation, then depending on whether it’s summer and then it’s rain, or it’s winter and then it’s snow, that’s when we have phenomena that in the case of precipitation, blizzards can occur” – said the meteorologist.
In turn, when a cumulonimbus cloud is formed, i.e. a thundercloud, it can also lead to a snowstorm, in which lightning strikes. “It’s a very rare phenomenon, but even this year it had to do with it” – observe. He noted in part that two days earlier there had been snow storms in the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship on the border with Pomorskie and a snowstorm in the infrastructure near Słubice.
When this year a “specific” snowstorm is on its way to us, which was even in Warsaw. The number of discharges during it was huge. “It was one of the highest storm factors related to the impact of lightning. It is such a phenomenon that a storm accompanying snowfall, and not rain, as usual. It is a very rare, but increasingly common phenomenon in our country” – added Waljewski.
Also that if we have a tall, uplifted cumulonimbus, from which snow falls, then we would definitely have a blizzard, i.e. the so-called snowstorm. a wall of snow.
They also occur on the fronts of the sun. “Now we have so far for such a reason. They are approaching Poland than Brygida and on working days they appear more and more, they already cause its effects. In Małopolska, Lubelszczyzna together, throughout the entire rainfall section – until Monday – it may fall in some places even 40 cm snow,” he said.
It was added that there is also a chance of blizzards, because this snowfall will be caused by a very large snow cover in a short time. The greatest probability of snow occurrence will be in Podkarpacie, Małopolska, Świętokrzyska and Lubelszczyzna regions. In these areas there will still be strong winds up to 70-90 km / h, in each of them blowing snow and blizzards. “Drivers must be very careful because road conditions are very careful,” warned Waljewski.
Until Monday in Warsaw, according to the autumn forecasts, about 15 cm of snow – on the night from Saturday to Sunday about 1 cm, on Saturday from 7 cm to 10 cm and at night from Sunday to Monday about 4 cm. “I was not surprised when on Monday there will be 10 to 15 cm of snow in Warsaw, and in Mazovia, especially in the south, up to 20 cm. So it will be white” – the meteorologist added that the snow will continue, because next week frost.(PAP)
