Senior seriously injured in accident in Berlin-Rudow
A senior citizen was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Rudow yesterday morning. After the collision with her, the vehicle wedged itself under the balcony of a residential building.
An 81-year-old wanted to park in the parking lot of a supermarket on Waßmannsdorfer Chaussee around 10:30 a.m. when he said he slipped off the brake. His car then started moving, hit a parked car, hit a pedestrian and crashed into a house wall, where the vehicle became wedged under the balcony of a ground floor apartment.
While the driver got away with the shock, the 92-year-old pedestrian was hit on the head and came to a hospital for inpatient treatment.
The vehicle involved in the accident was recovered by firefighters using heavy equipment. As a result, the Waßmannsdorfer Chaussee was closed for around one and a half hours, which also affected bus service on route 271. (TL)
