Radičová for HN: If you convince the voters that all the cases are invented and manipulated, you can win the elections
As a politician and former prime minister, they were part of the formation of our statehood for many years. Slovakia will soon, specifically on January 1, celebrate 30 years of independence. Is there anything to celebrate?
That’s a question I don’t have a yes or no answer to. Because, first of all, every anniversary, nota bene of statehood, is worth commemorating, congratulating, and also worth dwelling on. And they evaluated how far we have come.
So what’s the road ahead of us?
Perhaps it should be noted, so that we know what we are talking about, that on September 1, 1992, the Slovak National Council approved the Constitution, which entered into force, and then on January 1, 1993, the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic ceased to exist and the Slovak Republic was established de facto and de jure . I mention the supreme law because it means the basic values, rights and obligations of the organization of our statehood. Maybe if I say that we have approved 40 changes since 1992, and the deputies were modest, because as many as 239 proposals for changes were submitted, the dynamics of change requests was above average and not great. For example, compared to the US Constitution, which has been valid for two hundred years and to which 27 amendments were adopted during the entire period. It must also be said that we are trying to include things in the Constitution that really do not belong. We also wanted to get there, for example, lubricating oils, pipes that can provide mineral water, and the like, i.e. topics that belong to general laws. And not to the law, which is supposed to define the basic human, political, civil, social, economic and cultural rights of citizens. So our basic law itself is more than debatable despite major interventions. For this, we have created the basic institution of the state, legislative, executive and judicial power and control bodies.
It was not these democratic institutions that were corrupted and stolen in our country. What is the problem?
