Covid and flu, emergency room under pressure in Genoa – Liguria

With general practitioners celebrating, patients turn to the ps

(ANSA) – GENOA, DECEMBER 10 – The pressure on the Genoese hospital system and in particular the situation in the emergency rooms in these days of long weekend does not subside.
The numbers tell the story: over 120 missions between ambulances and self-medicines, more than 100 patients between waiting, taking charge and brief intensive observation respectively in the emergency rooms of San Martino and Villa Scassi, about 60 in Galliera, after the peaks recorded in recent days while there are a dozen little patients waiting to be seen at Gaslini.
Shortly after 6pm the numbers were still important. At Galliera there are 5 patients waiting and 50 visiting, 10 of which in red code. At San Martino 37 waiting and 71 visiting, of which 19 in red code. At Villa Scassi there are 13 patients waiting, 65 visiting, of which 15 red codes.
At Gaslini 12 little patients waiting, all in green code and 12 visiting ones, no red code.
The reason for the hyper-influx is the mix formed by the high incidence of Covid and flu syndromes and the low availability of family doctors, which leads many patients to flock to hospital emergency rooms.
The system for monitoring the accesses of the Genoese “er” in real time sees above all blue and green codes, many of which indicate feverish forms and respiratory pathologies, but there are also red codes, such as patients with cardiovascular or neurological problems who they find themselves “passing in front” of other patients but within saturated structures.
