Although Russia’s military-industrial complex has 140 factories and the country is prepared for a long war, sanctions are weighing on the economy. Russia is bound to lose the war. It may suddenly turn out that China is the more accommodating global partner on matters of international security and international relations than Russia. Bulgaria suffers setbacks on the road to Schengen because it consistently produces mistrust as a European partner. Comment on that Prof. Rumen Kanchev, International Security and Geopolitics, former Deputy Minister of Defense, in the program “Investor Club” on Bloomberg TV Bulgaria with leader Ivaylo Lakov.
Russia can wage war in Ukraine for a long time because the military industrial complex has 140 factories, 40 of which work for missile forces. But the other problem for Russia is the pressure of sanctions, and towards the end of 2023, a “very sharp” decline of the Russian economy will be felt, which should affect the external political processes in the country, said Prof. Kanchev. “Russia is bound to lose this war. The question is at what stage they will understand that they have to sit down at the negotiating table and begin an even more difficult period of refining modern Russian history, because they will have to pay for all these defeats that they inflict on Ukraine, again and in the West”.
The mention of nuclear weapons over and over again by Putin is worrying if the Russian leader really has no intention of using it if Russia seems clearly lost, the guest stated.
“We are watching carefully balancing relationships. The US does not want to sharply increase the military power of Ukraine with anti-aircraft systems.”
There are many issues on which the US and Russia must agree. But at the G20 meeting between Biden and Xi Jinping, the agenda was very heavy and the two leaders discussed all the important topics, which raises the question whether the US does not want to conduct the most important geopolitical negotiations, not with Russia, but with China. Information also came out that the two presidents have reached an agreement on a number of key issues in this area, pointing out the red lines, pointed out Prof. Rumen Kanchev.
“It may suddenly appear that China is the more compliant global partner on the issues of international security and international relations from Russia. Not only is this not bad news, but China is seen as the biggest economic beneficiary of the post-Cold War world order.”
On the occasion of receiving a refusal to accept Bulgaria in Schengen the guest said that both the Netherlands and Austria were “countries with very old, conservative democracies and a very high standard of living”. “Usually these countries set themselves high standards that most European countries cannot meet.”
As for the technical criteria, “I don’t think they are met,” the interlocutor said. “Their performance produces some higher degree of trust as partners.” We do not show a very high degree of confidence also on the issue of the crisis in Ukraine and with regard to reforms in defense, in education, etc. Step by step we are producing a distrust of ourselves”.
“It can be seen that there is a very large one the permeability of our border. It is coming and must be strengthened, and I cannot explain why the Bulgarian state is ashamed of the private-public partnership and does not use the knowledge of its universities, as we have so much anyway”.
With the participation of various departments, almost one hundred percent border protection can be achieved with the help of high-tech means of the type of drones and other innovative technologies to jam the mobile connections of those breaking the borders, as well as artificial intelligence to connect the overall border protection management in a single system, the professor pointed out.
Who is behind the Citizens of the Reich movement and is there a Russian connection involved? Can we talk about a coup attempt or is it a “clumsy and amateurish attempt” that technically well-equipped German rated units were liquidated at an early stage?
