Gothenburg v. Lexington
In their first outing of the season on Thursday, December 1, the Gothenburg Lady Swedes put on an impressive four-quarter-long display of teamwork and skill against the Lexington Minutemaids. From the start of the game, the girls applied pressure and ended the first quarter with a 15-0 lead.
At the end of the second quarter, the scoreboard showed 35-6 in Gothenburg’s favour. The girls continued their attack through the third and fourth quarters, keeping the pressure and showing excellent time management and ball control.
At the buzzer, the scoreboard showed that the Gothenburg Swedes took home a win with the final score 54-13. This impressive display from the Swedes shows the hard work and training they will continue to bring to the court during the season.
Gothenburg v. Hershey
In Friday’s matchup, the Swedes Girls Varsity Team dominated the Hershey Panthers in a 65 to 47 game. The girls led early in a controlling display by putting 21 points on the board at the end of the first quarter.
At the end of the second quarter, the Swedes trailed by just two points but came back strong with another 18 points in the third.
Starting in the fourth, the girls led 46 to 35 and drove it home for another 19 points; ending the game with a 65 to 47 win. This win for the Swedes improves their record to 2-0 as they prepare for their road game with Southern Valley on Thursday night.
