“Clássico” between Benfica and FC Porto marks the “eighths” of the Portuguese Cup Alfaloc
For the second time this season in official matches, SL Benfica and fcporto measure forces, now counting for the round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup Alfalocin a game that is scheduled for Sunday (17h, broadcast on FPBtv and RTP2🇧🇷
In anticipation of an always desirable “classic” we spoke with Aaron Broussard and Teyvon Myersinfluential players in maneuvering “eagles” and “dragons”, respectively.
On the Benfica side, Aaron Broussard analyzes the rival and wants a team faithful to his identity: “FC Porto’s biggest dangers are his shooting ability, rebounds and the physical form he plays in defense. Games between rivals are always special. Hope an intense duel under a great atmosphere, we believe that we will see all our hosts supporting us! I think there are no secrets to winning this game. Of course it’s a knockout match, but we succeed by keeping the focus and approach each game. To win we need to maintain the level, focus and style of play”, he points out.
Broussard assumes “incarnate” favoritism, but does not privilege it: “We trust in ourselves, of course we believe we are favorites, but that is not important, we are not focused on that. We understand that every game will be a challenge, so we need to approach every match the same way to be at our best if we want to achieve our goals”, he says.
The season for the “eagles” has been marked by the campaign in the Champions League, but Broussard was not taken by surprise: “This could be the best moment of my career, so far. But without the team’s success, none of that matters. Collectively we have had a great season and we will continue to work hard to improve. We can continue in this direction, ”he says.
With a path punctuated by excellent performances, in his second season at Luz, the North American athlete shows his eyes on the collective: or opinions. My focus is on the field”, he guarantees.
Like Broussard, but now at FC Porto, Teyvon Myers wants the group to maintain the matrix: “I think that if we play as we have been doing, with fun and joy, we will have a fantastic game”, predicts.
The 28-year-old recognizes Benfica’s power, but his focus is on the team itself: “Benfica is a team that works well collectively, but for me it’s just one more game for us to evolve as a team. The thought is always on us and not on the opponent”, vinca.
In his debut year at Invicta, Myers does not hide his enthusiasm with this experience: “I love FC Porto, I am very happy to have come here! I will never forget these players and coaching staff”, he assures.
The midfielder praises the technical team: “Coach Fernando Sá has been a blessing to me in many ways and I think that he and João Pedro Gonçalves, assistant coach, who was also a player, will unlock many things for my future. They understand what we go through physically and mentally, and I love that!”, he finishes.
In addition to the “classic”, there are six more games in this round of the Portuguese Cup scheduled for the weekend, all broadcast on FPBtv:
