Issel is subject to 1. FC Köln by a hair’s breadth
With the last action, the Isseler B-Juniors had to admit defeat to the youngsters of 1. FC Köln after a competitive appearance in the Bundesliga away match.
Right from the start, the Moselle women implemented the instructions of the Stephan Hartstein/Alina Knobloch coaching team well and hardly gave the hosts any space to develop.
In a strong first half, the TuS itself repeatedly put pinpricks. Sara Weber even had the chance to guide the guests, but was offside at the end. In addition, Emily Czerny was disturbed at the last second with hard physical exertion. A penalty whistle would not have been unjustified at this point from Isseler’s point of view, but it did not happen. FC, on the other hand, only got shots outside the penalty area.
After the break, Anna Koster had the next chance for Issel, but her shot went wide of the target. Cologne then increased the pressure, which increasingly challenged Issel defensively. In the last minute, the only carelessness of TuS was punished: Emma Lattus conquered the ball, rounded Joy Jung in the Isseler Tor and pushed in for the 1-0 winning goal for FC.
“The team played a great game and defended with heart and passion,” praised the two TuS coaches. “The attacks that we wanted to use were also played out well. We’re really proud of the squad. We have to keep going like this and then reward ourselves – preferably next week against Bochum.” The game against the VfL youth team will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. on the artificial turf pitch in the Schweich school centre.
