Culture & Science: Salzburg Culture Fund Awards ceremoniously presented
Several awards were presented in the solitaire of the Mozarteum University for exceptional achievements in the areas of research and art.
SALZBURG. The City of Salzburg’s Culture Fund prizes for extraordinary achievements in the value of art and science were presented by Deputy Mayor Bernhard Auinger. “We are very happy that after the pandemic years, we can finally present the prizes from the culture fund again this year as part of a celebratory evening,” said the head of the culture department. The award winners
- In the art and culture section, this year, with a focus on youth culture and youth art, the jury awarded the international main prize Cornelia Böhnisch and Katharina Schrott (Endowment 12,000 euros). They have been managing the Toihaus Theater together since 2018 and, with their sensual artistic signature, shape children’s and youth theater in the Salzburg and international cultural landscape
- With the Salzburg prize (endowment 10,000 euros). Robert Penz honored. Under his leadership, over the past 20 years, the Salzburg Schauspielhaus has developed into the largest independent theater in Austria and an important hub in Austrian and European theater networks. The sponsorship associated with the Salzburg Prize (4,000 euros) accompanies Robert Pienz in equal parts with the young theater artists Daniela Meschtschscherjakov and Benjamin Blaikner.
- Of the Advancement award for art and culture (endowed with 6,000 euros) went to the musician and conductor Silvia Spinnato, founder and director of the Female Symphonic Orchestra Austria – BFS. With their all-female orchestra, they successfully rediscovered and performed works by female composers from the Classical and Romantic eras.
- The visual artist Gertrude Fischbacher and the multimedia expert Marius Schebell For this he received the advancement award for science and research (endowment 6,000 euros). Since 2019, they have been investigating the connection between textile and sound as a collective, exploring new possibilities of expression that invite visitors to experience and experience in exhibitions, performances and installations.
- The grant for a Children and youth project was awarded for the “Climate Time Travel” project Montessori elementary school Nonntal awarded (endowment 6,000 euros). Angelika Wimmer-Schaffer and the children in her 4th grade (year 21/22) continue their own music theater together with director Caroline Richards and percussionist Robert Kainar, which was performed at the end of the school year in July 2022.
