In Genoa Biella Rugby suffers, then wins with bonuses

Sugar Mizzy December 5, 2022

We return from Genoa with another victory and another five very useful points for the standings. 15-32 the final result that clashes with a partial of perfect equality: 12-12.
The first XV presented by Benettin, who saw the whole front row on the pitch from the first minute, who usually start from the bench, and the debuting scrum-half Gino Genovese, was disoriented by the aggressiveness and concreteness of the Pro Recco men who find themselves two goals, at 10′ and 29′. In between, little play, especially for the Biella trocars who suffer in the scrum, were unable to produce good balls to exploit. Before the expiry the yellow-green pride peeps out and the chosen ones reward the coach’s trust by bringing the score back into balance thanks to the two tries scored by Righi at the end of two textbook rolling mauls.

Fresh air in the second half: fresh changes and experts overturn the match, despite Biella having twice found itself outnumbered due to two temporary suspensions. In the 48th minute Susperregui slips a penalty between the posts from far away and extends. Recco made up for lost ground by scoring another free-kick in turn, then surrendered to the superiority of the yellow-greens who scored a free-kick and two tries by Foglio Bonda and Ramaboea before the deadline.

Alberto Benettin, head coach of Biella Rugby: «We got off to a bad start, despite having prepared for this match very well and with the right concentration. Some mistakes that our opponents took advantage of by putting us under. Di Recco amazed me the aggressiveness and defense that often put us in difficulty. Well done to us to react and turn the game already at the end of the first half. With the restart, the game went better, even though we never reached the maximum expression we are capable of. Despite everything, we also managed to get the bonus, well done guys who showed great character. Well done also our player of the match Martin Perez Caffe who played very well today, always in an intelligent way. He recovered even very difficult balls, but they led us to secure possession to start actions that sometimes ended up with heavy marking. He has also improved in defence, I am very happy for him. Before concluding, I would like to underline once again the character shown by all the boys today, because when the confrontations on the field start and you can’t do anything it’s really difficult, I say this also as a player, to keep the game going. We did».
