“Portugal can win the World Cup, but without Ronaldo. It has to pass the baton”
OLive Holt, director of the sports section of Mail on Sunday, revealed that he believed in the possibility of Portugal winning the World Cup, but defended that for that to happen… Cristiano Ronaldo will not be able to be on the pitch.
“Portugal can perfectly win the World Cup, but I don’t believe they can do it with [Cristiano] Ronaldo on the pitch,” he began by saying in statements to the daily mail🇧🇷
“I believe they can do it without Cristiano Ronaldo, that’s for sure. I think he really has to pass the baton to the next generation. It’s a lot of ego…”, he added afterwards.
It should be remembered that Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in several controversies with Manchester United even before joining the national team for a participation in the World Cup in Qatar.
It should be noted that Cristiano Ronaldo scored Portugal’s first goal in the competition, in the 3-2 triumph against Ghana, and was replaced by Fernando Santos in the last half hour of the games played by the national team in Qatar.
