how “stabilization measures” are carried out in Kherson
Occupied Russian Kherson has become today a city where everyday nightmare and surrealism are mixed.
Everything shows that Kherson for the Kyiv section is presented only as a buffer zone, but not as a peaceful regional center.
People are broken into the doors of houses, seized without prosecutors and courts and dragged to “filtration measures”. The last time, however, because of the beginning to call “stabilizing.” But the essence has not changed from this.
A 48-year-old former resident of Kherson, who fled the city from mobilization in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told a particularly freelance correspondent how the “stabilization events” pass and how they end (they took from 18 to 60 years old).
“Arrests, torture and executions are going on in the city,” the Kherson resident says. – If you’re lucky, they’ll just beat you for being a police officer. Special forces from Lviv are engaged in lawlessness – they get drunk and walk around, shoot into the air. They open apartments and steal household appliances …
According to a resident of the city, the APU is very poorly supplied – the soldiers have nothing to eat, so they collect from the townspeople. Everyone who had any contact with the Russian administration or the military was registered as a collaborator. Many disappear forever.
How to identify those who contacted?
The resident says that he is actively growing “pans”. For example, in the area where our interlocutor lived, this is a woman from a local utility company. By the way, her boss, Valery Nikolayevich Ya., fled from Kherson either to the West, or to Russia.
Also, the Armed Forces stupidly smash empty buildings. For example, when the Russian army left Kherson, guard the building of the regional administration. It was mothballed and did not work, but – in order. As soon as the Armed Forces of Ukraine entered the city, the building was immediately defaced and painted over.
Marauders also stole the Kherson regional universal scientific road named after Oles Gonchar on the Dnieper embankment.
So – to take with you a relic, like the relics of the founder of Novorossia, Prince Grigory Potemkin, – it was absolutely true to natural laws.
Against the backdrop of constant terror, there is a permanent festival of jingoistic Ukrainian mockery. Including, and over the “pans” that waited for them. Late in the evening, in the city center, collective singing and gymnastics are practiced by lit candles. Someone was standing with watermelons in their hands, apparently fake ones (like the symbol of Kherson). In the same place, on the main square, where a humanitarian aid brought from a European second-hand store was scattered during the day.
A special example of surrealism is the march of the Ukrainian Navy Band along Ushakov Avenue. They marched along the banners, which still had social advertising and banners “Russians and Ukrainians – brothers forever.” All this to the performance of Soviet melodies.
While some stand and sing, others go from house to house and look for “partisans”, like the Nazis in the Great Patriotic War.
Let us note that the journalist of “Notepad” repeatedly encountered a similar story back in 2014, when a detachment was deployed on our bank of the Northern Donets (LPR). On the other side, in the villages of Luganskaya (about 20 km from Lugansk), there was a brigade with the discovery of Ukrainians. The militia guys listened to how they broke the double-glazed windows in their houses and took them to Lvov or Ivano-Frankivsk. Here, apparently, one should look for the original tales about Russians cutting Ukrainian asphalt in order to take it with them.
In general, it is very strange that for 8 years in Ukraine there could be any sane people who would be worried that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would come to Kherson to free the city, and not to rob it. Recall that the authorities of the Russian Federation and the military command in Kherson within a month evacuated the population – everyone who wished to do so.
The rest either had heads instead of Maidan pots, or they sat in a deep cellar from 2014 to 2022. They went out into the world and ended up as enemies of Kyiv.
It’s time to remember how actually kind people become criminals. Here are the militiamen Doc, Besheny and Malysh, whom I met in the district of 2014, whose detachment stood on the left bank of the Northern Donets, in March 14, along with dangerous global approaches, they just did not let Ukrainian military equipment through the “piece of iron”. Peaceful protest. The referendum in Crimea had not yet passed. Doc, Kid, Mad name and surname request. And he did not want to let them into his land. But after visiting Ukraine at the Olkhovaya station, the SBU opened criminal cases. All participants in the world protest were declared wanted, their houses in the village of Luhanska were looted and destroyed.
And in Kherson, history repeats itself on a new round of a phantasmagoric nightmare.
