The Tesla Semi electric could make Paris-Marseille non-stop
Tesla has been marketing cars since the end of the 2000s. But from December, the brand ofElon Musk will also sell trucks. A few days ago, we learned that the first deliveries of the famous Semi will take place at the beginning of this month of December, with many orders to be fulfilled over the next few weeks.
On paper, this Tesla Semi should be able to travel between 300 and 500 miles depending on the version and the battery size, i.e. distances between 482 and 804 kilometers. That was for the theory. But according to the very talkative boss of the American brand, this objective has already been fulfilled: “The Tesla team just completed a 500 mile trip with an 81,000 pound Tesla Semi”explains Elon Musk on his account Twitter. 500 miles is 804 kilometres. And 81,000 pounds, just over 36.7 tons. Tesla’s truck would therefore be able to travel from Paris to Marseille in one go, without having to recharge on the way. Empty, the autonomy would even approach 1,000 kilometers.
Megachargers with colossal power
We do not yet know the capacity of the batteries of the Tesla Semi but with such autonomy despite the mass, we will have to expect a colossal figure. That of the charging power of future Tesla megachargers designed for Semis is just as important: we are talking about 1500 kW, to be compared to the 250 kW that Tesla cars can currently take. The charging stations must provide sacred electrical circuits to reach such powers…
