It was in reggae that TAÏRO found a way to continue the fight of his father who, because of his revolutionary ideas, was imprisoned for four years in Morocco and then exiled to Paris. From his mother, he transmitted the taste for the French language and the revelation of his vocation by listening to one of her records: “KAYA” by BOB MARLEY. A subscriber to sound systems during the heyday of Parisian ragga, his career took off when AKHENATON recruited him for the soundtrack of TAXI 2 and exposed to the ears of the greatest number with the hit “Elle Veut” from the compilation “DIS L’HEURE DE RAGGA” released in 2004. Since then, TAÏRO has been one of the spearheads of French reggae, acclaimed by a huge fanbase, more than ten clips with several million views, hits played around the world whole.
In a country torn by identity issues, he affirms a peaceful relationship to his dual culture, and alternates committed or lighter texts. The singer was 16 when, by opening a French-English dictionary, he chose his nickname TAÏRO: the apprentice. always learning, that’s a beautiful philosophy of life.
Three years after the album “AINSI SOIT-IL” and the boxes of the songs “Une Unique Vie” and “Bonne Weed” culminating in several tens of millions of views on YouTube, TAÏRO confirms its know-how with “REGGAE FRANÇAIS” its last opus released in 2016. Accompanied by his FAMILY BAND, he has no less than two Olympia and unforgettable concerts on the main stages of Solidays, Printemps de Bourges, No Logo, Reggae Sun Ska Festival and many others.
After a Best Of double CD of 35 titles and full of new releases, TAÏRO is back on the road to concerts in mainland France with a visit to Toulouse on December 10th.
