Caen – Ali Abdi’s mixed feelings after Tunisia’s victory against France
“If you don’t believe in it, you might as well stay at home”was blowing here Ali Abdi at Eurosport before playing a match of world Cup against the French team. Meeting not taken seriously enough by Didier Deschamps the Blues, already qualified, but mentioned with great courage and determination by the Tunisia, who still had a slim chance of qualifying. The Eagles of Carthage thus did what was necessary against the Team of France (1-0 victory thanks to Wahbi Khazri) but lacked little qualification because of Australia’s victory over Denmark… and of course their own defeat against these Australians a few days earlier. The side of Caen, therefore disappointed with this scenario, was able to play 205 minutes of this World Cup (without stoppages) and garner, at 28, a significant experience of the very high level.

” I’m sad. Unfortunately, even by beating the world champion and taking a point against a very good team from Denmark, we are not qualified. We lost the match against Australia, which we should not lose. This is where we missed qualifying. »
” Frankly, this competition has given me a lot of things. I know I’m lucky to have participated. I was the player who won the most duels in the first two games (recame 15 minutes from the end against the Blues, editor’s note.). I’m happy with what I showed against Denmark, and a bit disappointed with what I did against Australia because I can do better offensively. But I showed that I am solid defensively. »
