In 2015, 32% new participants decided to enroll in the STEM major in Slovenia. This was above the OECD average of 27%. The largest share of these newcomers, 21%, chose to study engineering, manufacturing and construction, followed by 6% of those who chose to study natural sciences, mathematics and statistics, and then 5% of those who chose to study information and communication technologies. .
In 2016, the labor activity rate of mechanical engineering, production and construction graduates was 90%, which is well above the Slovenian average. The labor activity rate of graduates who studied natural sciences, mathematics and statistics was 69%, and among those who studied information and communication technologies it was 66%.
In 2019, it is a percentage new participants in information and communication technology programs, there were 16% of such women, and in mechanical engineering, manufacturing and construction programs, 23%. In contrast, 86% of new entrants to education were female.
