A completely vegan Christmas market? It will be available from December 17th in Cologne in Klettenbergpark. All information about opening hours, stands and program.

Cologne – Christmas duck, roast goose or potato salad with sausages are traditional Christmas classics for many people. Also on many Christmas market Cologne the bratwurst and baked fish stands are very popular. But not for everyone: Especially people who eat vegan often find it difficult to find alternatives for themselves at the Christmas markets.

The wait is now over: Because on December 17, a something different Christmas market. This one is completely vegan: the “Christmas market” in Cologne. There, visitors can eat vegan delicacies as well as shop for sustainable gifts. Surrounded by green meadows and forest, the Klettenberg Park is an atmospheric location.

Christmas markets in Cologne: This is what you can find at the vegan Christmas market

“Feasting and shopping for gifts without animal suffering, regional, handmade and with a fascinating program,” says the organizer’s website. Whether hand-stamped kimchi or delicious Egyptian food – at the small Christmas market in Klettenberg, visitors can expect all sorts of vegan alternatives: from classic Christmas market food to culinary trips to other countries.

Mulled wine is also a must. The vegan mulled wine will cost 4 euros per cup. In addition, the Christmas market offers malt beer and Sunner’s Kolsch for 3 euros. “Food and drinks will be within the normal range of a stand, i.e. between 5 and 10 euros, depending on the portion,” organizer Philip Minettos told 24RHEIN.

Other stalls sell sustainable and homemade goods. The program rounds off the visit to the Christmas market: Among other things, there will be a fire show, face painting, a hay bale castle and a magic show.

First vegan Christmas market in Cologne: This is the idea behind it

“The Christmas market is taking place for the first time this year and, as far as we know, is also the first attempt at a vegan winter market in Cologne,” explains Minettos. The idea stems from this to enable a Christmas market “without animal suffering”.

The two organizers have been vegan themselves for ten years and have already tried to bring people closer to the topic at numerous events. “Since more and more people are deciding to live vegan and we often enough wished for more events that are purely vegan, we wanted to tackle the topic ourselves.” Together with a friend, the idea of ​​organizing a vegan winter market came up to host.
