Culture: what to do in Aix-Marseille in December?
Among our favorites for the month of December, French song, vaudeville, humour… We have also selected two operas, for a festive New Year’s Eve evening on December 31!
Theater – The Family and the Vegetable Garden. December 8, 8:30 p.m., Silo, Marseille 2e
Marie-Anne Chazel and Régis Laspalès embody Marie and Denis, a couple who have loved each other for 40 years. Everything is going well, until the day their son Tom announces to them”his misstep“! This social satire is a real boulevard comedy where we laugh heartily.
Humor – Nicole Ferroni. December 10 and 11, 3 p.m. and December 20 to 23, 8 p.m. (except 9 p.m. at 7 p.m.), Théâtre des Bernardines, Marseille 1uh
Faced with the success of “L’Intégrale” by Nicole Ferroni, The Theaters have added dates to the Bernardines, in Marseille. This verse show was created as part of “It’s my tour, I offer you a verse!”, last spring. Here, the comedian is also a storyteller and proves to be a formidable author.
Classical/Lyrical – An Italian Christmas, The Circle of Harmony. December 16, at 8 p.m., Grand Théâtre de Provence, Aix-en-Provence
Rossini, Donizetti and Bach are performers with the orchestra Le Cercle de l’harmonie, hosted in residence at the Grand Théâtre since 2018. Le Cercle revisits the most beautiful arias of love from 19th century operaeserved by the voice duo Tara Stafford and Michael Spyres.
French song – Marc Lavoine. December 14, 8 p.m., Silo, Marseille 2e
“Adult never” is his 14e album released earlier this year. Marc Lavoine speaks once again of love, not always happy, and denounces the false certainties of the adult world.
Humor – Stéphane Guillon. December 16, 8:30 p.m., Silo, Marseille 2e
If you are a lover of acid humour, of constantly pushed limits, Stéphane Guillon should please you. With his new show, he looks back on two years of pandemic that changed the world and compiles all that is absurd… vast task!
French song – Dutronc & Dutronc. December 17, at 8 p.m., Arènes, Aix-en-Provence
Father and son give us an appointment for a unique tour, which echoes their recent album Dutronc & Dutronc. Released in early November they resume their high standards and appear more accomplices than ever.
Opera – L’Auberge Cheval-Blanc by Ralph Benatzky. December 28/29/31, 8 p.m. (except December 28 at 2:30 p.m.) and January 3 and 4, 2023, 8 p.m., Opéra, Marseille 1uh
Operetta in two acts created by the Austrian composer Benatzky. Here it is only a question of thwarted loves, until the epilogue where each of the three couples will finally find happiness. Because here, everything is a pretext for lightness and fun!
Opera – La Périchole by Offenbach. December 28/30/31, 8 p.m., opera, Toulon
A poor street singer resigns herself to becoming the mistress of a powerful man, in order to get out of her miserable condition.
