Ambassador Barbara Sušnik presented the letters of credence to His Majesty the King of Belgium
The credentialing ceremony took place at the Royal Palace, His Majesty’s official seat in Brussels, Belgium. Ambassador Sušnik was accompanied by First Counselor Mrs. Mateja Blaj and Defense Attache Colonel Aleš Marič. The delivery of letters of credence is a custom dating back to the late Middle Ages. The ceremonial reception emphasizes the high values and respected relations between the two countries.
On handing over the letter of credence to His Majesty the King of Belgium and on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Belgium, H.E. On November 17, Barbara Sušnik hosted the Vin d’honneur at the KBC premises on the Grand Place in Brussels.
After the welcoming address of Ambassador Sušnik, a cultural program followed. A Slovenian-Belgian trio consisting of Vesna Zornik, singer of Katalena, one of the most prominent Slovenian ethno bands, Toine Thys, a central figure for saxophone and bass clarinet in Europe, and Slovenian musician in Brussels Robert Jukič, who works mainly as a double bassist in jazz and performed 3 Slovenian folk songs related to music.
Slovenia and Belgium are celebrating 30 years of excellent bilateral relations and close cooperation at all levels. Friendly relations without open questions are also reflected in excellent cooperation within the framework of the European Union and international organizations.
