Toulouse: Chaplin in film – concert with the Orchester du Capitole
Three cine-concerts given by the Orchester du Capitole on the film “The Gold Rush” by Chaplin are offered this weekend as a pre-opening of Synchro, the new cine-concert festival of the Cinémathèque de Toulouse which will begin on Tuesday.
Synchro, the new film-concert festival created by the Cinémathèque which will begin this Tuesday November 30 and end on Saturday December 4, offers itself a magnificent pre-festival. And this with three film-concerts given this evening Friday by the ‘Orchestre du Capitole at La Halle aux Grains but also at the Aria Cornebarrieu, on Chaplin’s film “The Gold Rush”. Under the direction of Timothy Brooks, the Orchester National du Capitole performed this silent film by 1925 which passes through its burlesque sieve the America of the pioneers, with the music that Chaplin composed himself, rearranged for the occasion by Timothy Brooks. “To hear the Gold Rush with the rhythms and themes of Chaplin is to take the measure of the genius and virtuosity of this pioneer of cinema” says one at the Cinémathèque .
