Depleted capitals inflict the next bankruptcy on tired Salzburg residents
Cheers in Vienna-Kagran!
The Vienna Capitals beat EC Red Bull Salzburg 3-0 at home in the 22nd round of the win2day ICE Hockey League. The Viennese thus succeed in making amends for the 3:9 swatter in Innsbruck, while the ICE champion concedes the third competitive bankruptcy en suite.
In a varied first third, both teams have good chances to take the lead, but both Rotter (8th) and shortly afterwards Paul Huber (9th) let the 1-0 lie.
In the final customer Genoway (20th) scored the supposed 1:0 for the guests, but the puck only crossed the line after the siren.
Antal and Zimmer let Caps cheer
In the middle section, the strains from the CHL second leg in Sweden are clearly noticeable to the guests, the Caps are apparently dominant and go in front through a backhander from Antal (22./PP) with a majority.
A little later, Zimmer (34th) completed a dream combination to make it 2-0. Hartl (35th) even missed the 3-0 seconds later.
Salzburg comes into the final section with a lot of energy, Nissner (43rd) defeats Starkbaum for the first time, but the pole prevents the 1:2. In the 47th minute, the ex-Capitals attacker failed to hit the half-empty goal.
Then it’s the Caps’ turn again, Bradley (47th) and Preiser (50th) miss chances for the third goal. Bradley succeeds shortly before the end with an empty net (60th).
The Viennese leave the ice as a deserved winner and celebrate their third win in the last four games. This now keeps the caps at 33 points. Salzburg loses the third away game in the league in a row and still has 35 points on the account.
