Debate about traffic chaos at the Advent market
Traffic
In Salzburg-Hellbrunn there is a heated debate about the traffic concept and the traffic jams at the Advent market. Most visitors come with their cars. At times there are hardly any parking spaces.
There are around 800 parking spaces at the Hellbrunn Advent Magic. Nevertheless, the opening weekend showed large gaps in the traffic concept of the operators, say visitors. The organizers invested 20,000 to 25,000 euros in the concept.
Because many motorists did not pay attention to the barriers and signs, including one-way regulations, in the Keltenallee between Hellbrunn and Eichet: “Some deliberately put the signs to the side so that the next person coming behind does not have the opportunity to see these signs. It’s partly a fight against windmills,” says Gerald Stocker from the organization team of the Hellbrunn Advent Magic.
Organizers do not want to change the concept
Despite the sometimes chaotic conditions last weekend, nothing was changed in the concept overall, Stocker adds. However, he appealed to motorists: “Please stick to this traffic concept. And you have to be a little lenient at times because there are times when it can be tighter.”
Another is the Park & Ride area Salzburg-Süd on the Alpenstraße near the Hellbrunner Bridge: “You can always walk from there via a footpath – on the bridge over the Alpenstraße – to Hellbrunn,” says Stocker.
More buses from the city center
In order to ease the traffic situation around Hellbrunn, more buses will be going to Hellbrunn from this first weekend in Advent. Gerald Stocker confirms that the offer is being accepted – especially by guests from the city of Salzburg: “We have tried to increase line 25 at the weekends. It runs every ten minutes. Please follow the signs and the instructions given.”
